COP Replenish Perishable Buyer
Join our Houston team as a Replenish Perishable Buyer for our Center of the Plate Category(COP)! Our COP Buyer manages inventory levels of perishable product using a forecasting/replenishment system, manual analysis and judgment, knowledge and awareness of local markets, and other software applications to drive continuous improvement with customer in-stock performance, inventory turns, and product loss.
As a Replenish Perishable Buyer for COP your success is measured by:
- Being the Subject Matter Expert in COP
- Sales Calls - help to close the business working closely with our marketing and sales team
- Drive collaboration between GFS and Halpern’s / Halpern’s Business Development
- Product Cuttings
- Direct and work with brokers and vendors
- Category Growth
- Cases, brands, margin
- Procurement
- Work closely with NATL and Supply Chain (market conditions feedback)
- Collaborate with Merchandising Manager and Regional Merchandising team on needs for the division
- Develop programs on key items
- Work with large customers on pull through/booking programs to retain business over longer periods of time.
What we need from you:
- Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or Related preferred
- Five or more years of progressive experience working with forecasting and replenishment tools
- Experience in selling/buying center of the plate for foodservice
- Deep understanding of key categories such as beef, pork and poultry
- How the markets work. Ex: How box feed is purchased, priced and seasonality
- Based in Houston but travel to Dallas for one week per month and or as needed
