You will be our Product Owner for our Food Safety Systems and be a critical leader in ensuring Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) systems provide seamless business support and compliance to Gordon Food Service’s (GFS) food safety expectations.  


In this role you will be involved in: 

 

  • The development and maintenance of North American quality and food safety management systems such as product complaint, product recall, & supplier compliance programs, ensuring that they meet customer and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Championing innovative and creative ideas to drive change and improvement into North American quality and food safety systems.
  • Driving strategies to ensure connectivity and synchronization of QA/food safety relevant data, processes and systems throughout the business (e.g., Enterprise Resource Planning/ERP initiative)
  • Integrating continuous improvement ideas in all aspects of project deliverables, working collaboratively with other teams across North America to ensure the solutions are integrated into the company ERP
  • Acting as product owner for North American quality assurance and food safety systems in the SAFe development process
  • Using customer feedback, research, market and data analysis to drive continuous improvement to quality and food safety management systems
  • Sharing primary responsibility for executing product recalls both during and after business hours and on weekends (shared responsibility 
  • Collaborating with and performing some shared time sensitive or critical responsibilities (e.g., complaint processing, withdrawal execution, etc) to provide seamless service to both our internal and external customers
  • Providing coverage for the Quality Assurance e-mail box (shared responsibility)
  • Developing, maintaining, enhancing and communicating job-related Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Policies and Job Aids
  • Cross-trained to perform key quality and food safety activities to provide seamless service to both our internal and external customers.  Cross-training including, but not limited to, Food Safety Systems (HAACP), product cuttings, specification review. etc  
  • Leading projects and/or offering support for product, supplier, and systems functions

 

What we need from you: 

  • Three to five years of previous experience in business or systems analysis, project management, quality control and/or food safety is required. 
  • Experience in quality engineering, Quality Management System, data reporting/analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in light program/application development, ERP and with SAFe Agile methodology beneficial.
  • Must have broad technical aptitude and knowledge, including the ability to effectively work with GTS (Gordon Technology Services) teams, understanding architecture, code and development approach (SAFe Agile framework).
  • Knowledge of Google applications preferred.
  • Word processing, presentation, e-mail and internet software applications.
  • Must be very proficient in spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets), with capacity to become advanced.  Knowledge of and ability to develop moderate formulas (e.g., vlookup, if,...then) is required
  • Knowledge of product information and inventory control management systems preferred
  • Experience in Statistical Process Controls preferred
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 for any service calls
